Pomona College Music Facilities
Thatcher Music Building
Thatcher Music Building, named in honor of Madge Rice Thatcher and Harry S. Thatcher, was dedicated in 1970. Inside Thatcher Music Building, you'll find offices and studios for the Music Department, Bryant Hall for ensemble rehearsals, the Victor Montgomery Music Library, practice rooms, and listening rooms. Ralph H. Lyman Hall, an auditorium with seating for 250, honors the memory of a professor who was chair of the Music Department and director of Pomona's Glee Clubs and choir from 1917 to 1948. The Ussachevsky Electronic Studio, created through a generous bequest from the late electronic music pioneer Vladimir Ussachevsky '35, contains state-of-the-art equipment for the production and recording of electronic music. Thatcher is also home of the College's student-run FM radio station, KSPC, which broadcasts with a power of 3,000 watts.

Bridges Hall of Music
Mabel Shaw Bridges Hall of Music, given in 1915 by Mr. and Mrs. Appleton S. Bridges of San Diego in memory of their daughter, a member of the Class of 1908, has historically been the center of musical activities at the College. Better known as "Little Bridges," it seats 600 and provides a remarkable space for public events and performances of all kinds, including those of the Pomona College Orchestra, Choir, Glee Club, and other musical ensembles. These programs present a broad spectrum of literature including classical, jazz, and vernacular music, both Western and non-Western. Through a gift of the Bertha Lebus Trust, the south wings of the building were renovated in 1972 and dedicated as Bertha Lebus Court. Further renovations were completed in 2001. Inside Bridges Hall of Music you'll find the new Hill Memorial Organ, a gift of John J. Hill '22 and Eugene H. Hill '26 in honor of their mother, Carrie Schnitker Hill, was built by C. B. Fisk of Gloucester, Massachusetts, and dedicated in May 2002.
